Blog Post #3

This week I read Sapphique by Catherine Fisher. Sapphique is a fantasy novel and the sequel to Incarceon. It's a highly recommended novel about a prison, a kingdom, and freedom. If I were to pick four songs to describe this book I would choose:
"Cosmic Love" by Florence and the Machines: This song is about being left in the dark and never seeing dawn or day. The prisoners in Incarceon feel the same way because they are trapped there and cannot see the outside.
"Free" by Switchfoot: The song is about wanting to be set free. This describes two of the characters in the book, Keiro and Attia, who are trying to escape from the depths of Incarceon. It also describes the prison itself whose mind wants to build a body so it can escape from itself and see the stars.
"Stop and Stare" By One Republic: This song is about frustration and trying to get to a place. It describes characters in the prison, such as Keiro, Attia, and Rix, because they want to get out, but find themselves stuck as to how to escape.
"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor: This song is survival. The characters in Sapphique strive to live to the end and not be defeated. Therefore, this song is a great theme for them because it describes their perseverance.
Those are the four songs that could go on a soundtrack for Sapphique. I don't have any questions to ask this week.

  1. Hey Emily,
The song "I Will Survive" is a great song for the part in which Sapphique is trying to live to the end. It sounds like a neat book that I might read later on. The song reminds me of how I am going to survive school, and how it is almost over. By the way the song were a great choice to match your book. :)

  2. The four songs you choose seem to go really well with the book and your explanations were very descriptive.
